The Bullsh*t Story I Wrangled Yesterday

I woke up before my alarm yesterday with that awful feeling of pressure in my chest.

Immediately, my mind took off and raced through all my commitments and the things that I need to get done in the next four weeks.

The programs that are launching, clients to support, the huge pile of wood in my driveway, the receipts on my desk, the uncertain Christmas plans to make…I don’t need to share my whole list because I know yours is just as long. 

Then it happened…

The voice… “It’s okay Leah, you can do this! You’ll just have to work really hard through the holidays and NEXT YEAR will be different and you’ll take time off.” 

There it is!

That story that there’s never enough time and that I need to work 24/7 in order to be of value and get things done. 

You see, I’m a recovering workaholic and that right there is THAT old belief that surfaces when my life gets full.

It wants me to believe that life is happening to me. 

It does whatever it can to become my default way of seeing things and consequently impacts every decision I make, action I take, and wreaks havoc on my nervous system.

And it’s such bullsh*t!

So, yesterday…

I spent 10 minutes unpacking that BS story.

I decided what I’m choosing to believe and the experience that I’m devoted to having this month.

I created a short term plan and booked holidays off in my calendar

Then I took the day off. I got outside into the sunshine, raked figs, played with Merlin, listened to music, painted plant pots, and paid very close attention to the moments of ease.

Today, I woke up feeling like my life’s back on my terms.
